VANCOUVER, BC , April 4, 2022 /CNW/ - Today, Quark Baby Ltd. (Quark), a new Canadian company built to simplify the everyday lives of parents, officially launches - bringing to market an assortment of six intelligently designed baby products, anchored by its hero product Quook™, the smarter baby food processor. Created by two young fathers who, after experiencing firsthand the realities of parenthood, saw an opportunity to create a problem-solving suite of premium, safe, and budget-friendly baby products.

Designed in Vancouver , Quark baby products were engineered to be easier to use and easier to clean.

Designed in Vancouver, British Columbia – by Canadian parents, and for Canadian parents – Quark baby products were engineered to be easier to use and easier to clean. Simplifying daily tasks at every step of the parenting journey, Quark believes parenting will never be easy, but it can be easier.

"We are proud to be launching Quark and bringing functional, innovative products to Canadian families," said Garett Senez , Partner at Quark. "My wife and I celebrated the birth of our daughter, Hannah, in March 2021 . From the moment we started shopping in the baby category, we were struck by how expensive and rather basic everything felt. We bought the essentials, and then after just a few uses, it became abundantly clear to us that things needed to be better. Parents deserve right-sized products that are beautiful, functional, and durable - at prices that don't break the bank. This robust gap in the market motivated us to create Quark: intelligent products, inspired by parents."

From cooking and eating to health and safety, Quark's assortment of baby essentials is designed with purpose to help make daily parenting tasks easier:

Quook™ — The smarter baby food processor. The 5-in-1 baby food maker steams and blends in minutes. Plus, it is designed with an easy-to-clean touch display, innovative automatic cleaning mode, effective sterilization setting, and an integrated bottle warmer. MSRP $199.99 CAD

Fruuti™ — The revolutionary fruit feeder. Featuring advanced rotary propulsion technology, multiple safe extrusion tip sizes, and enhanced clean capability, Fruuti™ is the best way to start baby's feeding journey. MSRP $21.99 CAD

MSRP $49.99 CAD

Chiill — The must-have silicone freezer tray. Chiill is designed with seven individual prep pods and a precision-molded silicone lid to make baby food portioning and storage simpler. MSRP $19.99 CAD

Storii™ — The all-purpose food storage container. Featuring a secure-latch lid with a removable leakproof silicone seal and an integrated clip-in ice pack, Storii™ preserves meals and snacks for the whole family. Pack of 3. MSRP $19.99 CAD

Foxii™ — The adorable silicone corner guards. Foxii™ corner protectors are designed to add a dash of fun to the all-important baby-proofing safety routine. Pack of 4. MSRP $11.99 CAD

The start-up's flagship product, Quook™, is a game-changer for parents. The full-featured baby food processor steams and blends food with flexible settings and a touch display. It also features an integrated bottle warmer and is equipped with an automatic cleaning mode as well as a sterilization cycle for quick and easy cleanup, replacing up to four countertop appliances in a compact form factor.

With consumer safety being a top priority for the brand, all Quark products are made without the use of harmful materials such as BPA, BPS, PVC, latex, lead, and phthalates.

"The baby category lacks options when it comes to affordable, well-designed, functional, durable, and future-forward products," said Justin Gurinskas , VP Product at Quark. "Having a baby comes with a long list of must-have items that parents need to rely on at various stages of their journey. We designed our products with intention, to maximize value and retain utility as our kids grow. Very quickly, we will be launching a sophisticated set of proprietary, tech-enabled products within the nursing and feeding, as well as IoT categories. We can't wait to show you what's next."

Starting April 4, 2022 , Quark will be available for sale in over 400 retail stores across Canada, thanks to strong partnerships with Walmart Canada, London Drugs, Loblaw Companies Limited, Indigo Books and Music, as well as dozens of specialty retail outlets. Products will also be available online at Amazon.ca and on QuarkBaby.com.

Kicking off its commercial debut with strategic retail partnerships, the Canadian start-up is slated to grow its commercial presence across Canada, and expand its product assortment in the baby category with technology-driven innovations set to launch later in 2022.

Canada's main stock index fell on Friday, as stronger-than-expected U.S. consumer price data stoked fears that the Federal Reserve would continue with its aggressive policy tightening to tame soaring inflation. At 9:44 a.m. ET (13:44 GMT), the Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index was down 183.47 points, or 0.89%, at 20,380.42 and set for a weekly drop, ending its three-week winning streak. The Labor Department's report showed U.S. consumer price index (CPI) accelerated to 1% in May from 0.3% in April, while on an annual basis it increased at a blistering 8.6% as gasoline prices hit a record high and the cost of services rose further.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said on Thursday she did not expect the U.S. economy to tip into a recession, but growth would "absolutely" slow down and gasoline prices were unlikely to fall anytime soon. Consumer spending is very strong. "I know people are very upset and rightly so about inflation, but there's nothing to suggest that a ... recession is in the works."

Earlier this week, the bank said https://www.reuters.com/business/wells-fargo-pauses-diverse-slate-hiring-policy-after-reports-fake-job-interviews-2022-06-06 in a memo it was pausing a hiring policy that requires recruiters to interview a diverse pool of candidates, after another report by the New York Times said such interviews were often fake and conducted even though the job had already been promised to someone else. The bank reiterated that it is conducting a review so that hiring managers, senior leaders and recruiters fully understand how the guidelines should be implemented. Wells Fargo declined to comment on the criminal investigation mentioned in the report.

Most of Ontario’s mask mandates will come to an end on June 11, the province announced, as the COVID-19 situation continues to improve. That means the provincial mask mandate will no longer apply to public transit and hospital settings, but will still be in place in long-term care and retirement homes. “While masking requirements are expiring, organizations may implement their own policies,” Ontario’s chief medical health officer Kieran Moore said in a statement. The decision is an “important development”, says the Public Policy Forum’s Sean Speer, and one that he says will help resolve some lingering confusion about Ontario’s mixed bag of public health rules. On this episode of Editor’s Edition, Yahoo Finance Canada’s Alicja Siekierska Speer discuss Ontario’s mask mandate change. They also dig into the ongoing chaos at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport, the government’s response to it, and what it means for Canada’s reputation on the world stage. They also talk about the Ontario election, what policies to expect from Premier Doug Ford, and how long it will take for a full return to the office. Japan's business community issued a joint statement on Friday seeking further relaxation of border controls, as the country begins a gradual easing of COVID-19 travel restrictions. The statement by domestic business lobby Keidanren and foreign chambers of commerce urged further easing to "facilitate an environment where people, goods, money and digital technologies can move freely". Japan began a phased reopening to tourists on Friday after a more than two-year ban.

Asian jet fuel refining profits - already at all-time highs - have enough leg room for more gains in the coming weeks, as relaxed border curbs boost summer travel demand and global airline capacity tops 100 million seats for the first time since early 2020. Despite rising fares and fuel surcharges, the number of scheduled airline seats has steadily risen for the past three months, industry data showed. Asia's benchmark jet fuel refining margins, also known as cracks, in Singapore this week hit a record high of $50.75 a barrel over Dubai crude, according to Refinitiv data that goes back to 2009.

It's a central-bank heavy week ahead, with the U.S. Federal Reserve expected to deliver its second straight half-point rate hike to bring inflation under control. Britain and Sweden, too, will likely lift interest rates again, while Switzerland may be getting ready to join the rate-hike club. In contrast, the Bank of Japan should confirm it's ultra-dovish stance remains solid.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden's administration has scrapped former President Donald Trump's red, white and blue design for the new generation of presidential aircraft after an Air Force review suggested it would raise costs and delay the delivery of the new jets. (Reuters) -Intel Corp has frozen hiring in the division responsible for PC desktop and laptop chips, according to a memo reviewed by Reuters, as part of a series of cost-cutting measures. Intel is "pausing all hiring and placing all job requisitions on hold" in its client computing group, according to the memo sent on Wednesday. The memo said that some hiring could resume in as little as two weeks after the division re-evaluates priorities and that all current job offers in its systems will be honored.

The number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment benefits increased to the highest level in nearly five months last week, but that likely does not mark a material shift in labor market conditions, which remain extremely tight. Amid reports of companies freezing hiring or contemplating layoffs in anticipation of a recession next year, the weekly jobless claims data is being closely watched. Economists largely shrugged off last week's larger than expected rise in claims as noise.

BERLIN (AP) — An aviation industry group representing most major airlines criticized the European Union's Parliament on Thursday for seeking to expand its emissions trading system to all flights departing the bloc. EU lawmakers voted Wednesday that existing requirements for airlines to buy credits for the greenhouse gas emissions that their flights produce should be extended to include all that leave the 27-nation bloc, Norway and Iceland.
