Jan. 21, 2022 -- About 334,000 baby pacifiers are being recalled because they could cause a choking hazard, according to a recall notice from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Mushie & Co is recalling two designs of its FRIGG silicone pacifiers because the “base of the silicone nipple has a fine slit that can cause the nipple to detach from the plastic shield,” the notice said.

The pacifiers were sold in more than 40 colors at TJ Maxx, SpearmintLOVE, Lil’ Tulips, Olive & Jade Company stores nationwide, and online at Amazon.com and Mushie.com between April and December 2021.

The recall includes two pacifier designs — classic and daisy — which both come in sizes 0-6 months and 6-18 months. The classic version has a round plastic shield, and the daisy version has a scalloped plastic shield.

The name “FRIGG” appears in raised letters on the handle of the pacifier shield. The items were sold for about $8 for a single pacifier and about $15 for a pack of two pacifiers.

No injuries have been reported, according to the recall notice. Mushie & Co, the U.S. distributor based in Texas, has received eight reports of the silicone nipple detaching from the plastic shield of the pacifier. FRIGG, the manufacturer based in Denmark, has received about 200 reports outside of the U.S. of the nipple detaching from the shield.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled pacifiers and contact Mushie & Co for a full refund or credit, the recall notice said. To obtain a refund or credit, consumers should cut the silicon nipple from the base of the pacifier and send a photograph of the parts to Mushie & Co through the company’s product recall and safety alert page. Consumers should then throw away both pieces of the pacifier.

Consumers can also call Mushie & Co at 877-687-4431 Monday through Friday or email the company at [email protected]
