Teeth baby? 10 tips to help them (and you!)

When my first child started teething when he was three months old, I didn't know what happened. She woke up very picky and had a low-grade fever, so I thought she had a cold. Then the saliva came, and she started chewing on the pacifier instead of drinking it. I looked at her mouth and found that her first tooth was trying to break the surface and the bottom gum was swollen. Ouch. I helped her explore my own way and used what I learned to deal with the problems when my twins started to incisor their teeth. Double ouch. Teething makes the baby painful, and it also makes the baby caregiver painful. I try to sympathize with the pain and discomfort of my child, but when my child goes through this coming-of-age ceremony, I need to work hard to be patient. Some tips and tricks are needed to ease my baby’s pain and relieve some despair.

Whether they are yours or your baby's, let them bite your fingers-just make sure your hands are clean. If you want, you can dip your fingers in cold water and provide them with a cold finger as a chew toy.

When I found out how much this toy cost, I was grateful that it was given to me and my ex as a gift. Who wants to spend 30 dollars on a rubber toy? Parents with teething children, that's it. Sophie is an easy-to-hold and easy-to-chew toy in our house; my children gnaw on her antlers and legs unscrupulously. If you like llamas or cheaper prices, Lil' Llama Teething Toy seems to be a good choice.

My parents told me that they freeze waffles or pretzels for their children and let them chew while they are teething. However, when your child is chewing on edible teether, you need to pay close attention to them. When the food is thawed and soft, it is possible that fragments will fall into your child's mouth and may cause suffocation.

My child's pediatrician recommended that my baby give them teething biscuits and biscuits when they are older (over six months) because they are designed to dissolve when the baby chews them. The pressure of chewing feels good, and the child benefits from it. When we feed our children, there is always a risk of choking, but biscuits and biscuits quickly become wet, mushy and easy to swallow.

I would put my children on the high chair and give them frozen mango or strawberry chunks that look like a mesh ring pop for babies. I eat fresh food feeders and messy AF, but my kids love them. Sweet, cold treats are a good distraction and feel good for their gums. The mesh structure means that only juice or very small particles will get into their mouths-and spread all over their chests. A slightly less messy option is the silicone feeder from Haakaa. One end looks like a pacifier with a hole in which you can put food, and the other end is designed with teether and can also be chewed.

Take a clean towel (no loose rope), soak it in water, and put it in the refrigerator for 30-60 minutes. A mother told me that she would soak one in breast milk, freeze it, and then give it to her daughter when she has teeth.

I don't remember my child having these options when he was young; it would be lovely to not have to pick up smooth teether, rinse it, and then return it to my child after a few minutes and repeat the process. There are many types of silicone teether that can easily slide off your baby’s wrist, allowing them to better hold when chewing on small, textured pieces. These wearable teethers from Towwi remind me of copper knuckles, but if they work, who cares?

Pressing and massaging your baby's gums with clean fingers is not something you can do all day long, but it may be a short-term solution until you can cool the towel or find the teething ring.

Although chewing on the bib may give your baby some relief, use the bib to keep your child's mouth and chin dry. When she was not wearing a bib, my oldest soaked the front of her jumpsuit, so it also kept her neck and chest dry. The bib helps reduce the irritation of wet and chapped skin. Investing in some water-based lotions can also help keep your baby's skin happy.

When distractions or chewing things don't help, over-the-counter medications may be your best option—especially when looking for things to help your child sleep. Children's Tylenol has always been the first choice in our family. Some people are lucky with homeopathic options, such as Hyland's teething tablets. The US Food and Drug Administration recalled the product a few years ago because it contained potentially toxic amounts of belladonna. However, the new version of the product no longer contains belladonna or benzocaine and may be a good substitute for Tylenol.

Some parents swear that the gel can be massaged into the baby's gums, but if you drool like me, then please be aware that the gel may be washed away immediately after drooling. Before trying something new, consult your pediatrician to find out which method is best for your child.

It may take trial and error to find a way to help your picky teether, but it may also take time. No matter what remedy you try, there is no way to solve it: teething and biting.
